Common
Questions about the Mini Jig:
I already
have a drill press, can I purchase the jig only??
Yes. The jig
is easily mounted to the drill press table by 2 bolts nthat are provided
with the jig. If using your own drill press, the spindle must have
at least 5” of travel (15-1175 jig only)
How much
bench space does the Mini Jig need??
The base plate
on this machine is only 16” wide. For operation you should allow 24”
in width and your bench should be at least 24” deep.
Does the
Mini Jig require much maintenance??
The only maintenance
needed is occasional lubrication to the table travel rods. This is
the same that you would do with any machine with moving parts.
Can I drill
into an existing hole??
Yes. You can
drill into existing holes, put in slugs or grips just like the big
machines, One quick note. A drill press was never designed to drill
anything but staright holes. Because of this, extreme care should
be used when drilling large holes. Also remember that the higher the
speed you drill, the more chance for vibration. Approximately 450
RPM.
On many
other jigs like the Mini Jig, the tables become very sloppy. In time,
will that happen to the Mini Jig, too??
Anytime you
have metal parts they will show wear in time. However, the Mini Jig
has ajustable table slides for each table allowing the operator to
tighten the slides in a matter of minutes. This will allow you to
maintain the high level of accuracy that you have come to depend on
from your Jayhawk Mini Jig.
